RUMOUR FILE: Postie pushed off his bike and had it stolen
RUMOUR CONFIRMED: A man pushed a post officer off his motorbike then stole it.
Postie Down told The Rumour File, police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs on Friday afternoon.
Unbeknown to the offender, police had setup road spikes further down the road.
‘He subsequently drove over the road spikes; it did its job and stopped the car.’
‘It stopped the car about a metre away from a postie doing his round of mail deliveries’
‘The offender jumped out of the car, pushed the postie off his motorbike…then proceeded to continue the pursuit on the motorbike’, Postie Down said.
Police initiated a pursuit however it was terminated for safety reasons.
Australia Post confirmed the post officer was from the Seaford branch and sustained minor bruising from the incident.
The motorbike was located by police in Somerville later that day and no mail was compromised.
Police are making enquiries to locate the driver.
