Rumour File: Child faints during Mass held by a Catholic college
RUMOUR FILE
A child has fainted during a huge mass service held by a Catholic college.
3AW Breakfast’s Rumour File heard a claim that over 40 children were treated for first aid for various ailments at the service last week.
But the school says the claim is exaggerated.
“On Friday, a mass email was sent to parents advising them that their children were not to invent facts,” the Rumour File contributor said.
“Families were discouraged from speaking to the media for fear of adversely impacting the school’s reputation.”
The college has since confirmed several students needed treatment when they staged the service off-campus for around 3000 people as part of a Feast Day celebration.
But they said most of the children who felt unwell hadn’t eaten breakfast, or visited the sick bay to take regular medication, and only one student fainted.
The student was able to walk to first aid and later returned to regular activities.
The school said all students were well enough to return to school for the carnival in the afternoon.
