Much-loved Geelong priest Kevin Dillon is leaving the bay.

3AW Breakfast’s Rumour File heard on Tuesday that Father Dillon is heading for the big city later in the year.

Father Dillon told Ross and John it’s sad, but true.

‘It’ll just about kill me, I love the place so much,’ he said.

St Simons in Rowville will be his new parish from July 27.

Father Dillon is 73, and while priests can officiate until they turn 80, he said he wants to retire while he’s still going strong.

‘I’d rather be Cameron Ling than John Howard,’ he said.
