RUMOUR CONFIRMED: African group attacks teens and steals phones at Highpoint
RUMOUR CONFIRMED: The mother of a boy who was bashed and had his phone stolen by a group of more than half-a-dozen teens at Highpoint says nobody stepped in to intervene.
Police have since released images of teens they wish to speak with over the incident.
Jasmine Moey told Ross and John her son and three of his friends had just watched a movie at the Maribyrnong shopping complex when they went to the toilet.
It was then the group of eight teens set upon them.
Not only was her son beaten, the group then demanded his mobile phone.
They made her son unlock his phone and turn off the ‘find my iPhone’ feature, so it couldn’t be traced.
Making things worse, Ms Moey told 3AW Breakfast at least two adult men were present in the cubicles at the time.
‘Nobody helped,’ she said.
Police have confirmed with 3AW Breakfast they’re investigating.
