Round 23 to be announced soon
The AFL will announce the round 23 schedule within the next two weeks, Gillon McLachlan has confirmed.
Currently the round is a floating fixture, however McLachlan has told Neil Mitchell the final schedule is likely to be released after round 20.
“I saw a draft this week. There’s some cracking games in there, GWS at Geelong, Hawthorn play Bulldogs… There’s some really good games,” McLachlan said.
“I reckon we’ll get it out in the next ten days.”
There could be potentially finals-defining matches in round 23, given it is such an even season.
One talking point already is the Brisbane Lions clash against North Melbourne, where the loser could be rewarded with the number one pick for finishing bottom.
However North Melbourne coach Brad Scott confirmed on Sportsday this week that the Kangaroos have set themselves to win every game and the infamous ‘tanking’ word is not on their minds.
The round 23 matches are:
Hawthorn v Western Bulldogs, Etihad Stadium
Collingwood v Melbourne, MCG
Sydney v Carlton, SCG
Brisbane v North Melbourne, GABBA
Essendon v Fremantle, Etihad Stadium
Richmond v St Kilda, MCG
Geelong v GWS Giants, Simonds Stadium
Port Adelaide v Gold Coast Suns, Adelaide Oval
West Coast v Adelaide, Domain Stadium
