Roos could ‘toy’ with rd 23: Lloyd
This time last year North Melbourne toyed with their round 23 match against Richmond.
Their position in the top eight was set and the Kangaroos had their minds firmly set on the first Elimination Final against the Tigers.
As a result the Roos rested a significant amount of players, which was a controversial decision.
In hindsight the move worked well as a fresh Kangaroos outfit beat Richmond and progressed through the finals. However the AFL didn’t like it and acted in the off season by placing a bye in the week separating the home and away season and the finals.
One year on, Matthew Lloyd says the Kangaroos are once again in the position to do as they please this week.
‘They can actually toy with this round 23 again,’ Lloyd told Sports Today.
A suggestion by Lloyd is for the Roos to give much needed game time to Shaun Higgins and Luke McDonald, who have both been out injured.
‘They can do whatever they want in this game because it means nothing.’
‘It’s what the AFL changed this rule for.’
Ironically, the Kangaroos plays GWS this weekend and may well face them again in their Elimination Final.
