Right-wing protesters storm another Melbourne council

Right-wing protesters have again stormed a local council meeting for cancelling Australia Day celebrations.

Having targeted the Yarra City Council in recent weeks – protesters last night walked into the Moreland City Council meeting in Coburg draped in Australia flags with signs and megaphones.

Protester Neil Erikson said the council has “overreached” its powers.

“We had a couple of signs about the communists inside the Moreland Council and Australian flags and megaphones,” Neil said.

“We’re trying to let these local councils know they should be looking after roads and not debating national politics.”

The group says they will target Darebin Council next.
