Matthew Richardson believes Richmond president John O’Rourke had a “little bit of a dig” at departing players, especially those who have opted to seek a trade despite holding long-term contracts at the club.

Shai Bolton, Daniel Rioli, Jack Graham and Liam Baker are all expected to find new homes during the trade period.

But Richo believes O’Rourke’s speech at Richmond’s best and fairest night – where he singled out Nathan Broad for staying loyal – was more directed to two specific players who are set to leave.

“He was clearly pumping up Nathan Broad for staying,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“Broad has showed some loyalty and that’s what he was referring to, but I think it is a little bit of a dig.”

“Probably more at (Shai) Bolton and (Daniel) Rioli who have long term contracts – when players sign long term deals you probably expect to see them get to the end of them.”
