New research by Deakin University has found the strategies employed by parents of fussy eaters could be inadvertently making their children pickier eaters.

Nutrition Sciences lecturer at Deakin University, Dr Alissa Burnett, told 3AW Breakfast nearly 1500 mothers were surveyed on the strategies they used on their children which were then compared to the strategies used by parents of non-fussy children.

“We found that the parents of fussier eaters were inadvertently using some of the strategies that aren’t recommended like pressuring their children to eat or inflicting punishment,” Ms Burnett said.
