Rescue operation begins for lost hiker in Wilsons Prom

A rescue mission is underway for a missing hiker in the Wilson’s Promontory area.

The SES has confirmed the person, who has been hiking for three days, is lost and has run out of water.

The 3AW Drive program understands the SES are in discussions with Victoria Police as to whether they will send a helicopter to join the search.

It is unclear whether the hiker reported themselves as lost or whether someone called it in on their behalf.

Temperatures have reached a maximum of 27° today, with an overnight low of 16° ahead.
