Reports of champagne shortage ‘overblown’ (and a shock confession from Tony Jones!)

Reports of an apparent champagne shortage in Australia have been “overblown a little bit” according to those in the know.

The Director of the Champagne Bureau of Australia, John Noble, told Tony Jones (filling in for Neil Mitchell) that consumers had little to worry about.

The more pressing issue quickly turned to the fact TJ claims he’s never tried champagne! Not once.

Mr Noble said TJ was in the minority, with the popularity of bubbles only growing since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s gone away from being a wine of celebration and the people who really like champagne now have no problem drinking it any time of the week,” he said.
