Report reveals decisions landlords are making after changes to land tax
A report from the Real Estate Institute of Victoria has revealed almost 90 per cent of landlords have reached out to their real estate agents to recover increased costs as a result of the state government’s new land tax.
The chief executive of the institute, Quentin Kilian, says landlords are weighing up their options after changes were made to land tax after the state budget earlier this year.
“The two things that are occurring are [real estate agents] are getting flooded by inquiries from their rent providers to look at listing their properties to get out … the second thing is the rent providers are saying ‘If I’m going to hang on to the property, I’m going to have pass on the cost,'” he told Neil Mitchell.
