Raids on Comancheros result in 14 arrests

Fourteen men have been arrested amid bike raids across Melbourne this morning, following an investigation into a drive-by shooting earlier this year.

The arrests, linked to the Comanchero Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang, relate to a series of firearm, blackmail, extortion and assault offences, including the Greenvale shooting.

It’s alleged a number of shots were fired into a car and garage on Haddington Crescent, just before midnight on March 25.

Police have also been investigating blackmail and extortion allegations linked to that shooting.

The 14 men to be interviewed by police today are aged between 23-years-old and 58-years-old.

Police executed 18 warrants just after 5am at properties in Greenvale, Essendon, Gladstone Park, Thomastown, Carrum Downs, Hastings, Dallas, Cranbourne North, Hampton Park, Narre Warren South, Bulleen, Hampton Park, Cranbourne West and Mill Park.

Two warrants were also executed at commercial properties, a factory on Miller Street in Epping and a licensed premises on Settlement Road, Thomastown.

It comes six weeks after the police anti-bikie taskforce carried out an unprecendented 44 raids on businesses and individuals linked to the Comancheros, described by police as a significant blow to the outlaw motorcycle gang.

Searches at a number of the properties remain ongoing.
