‘Quite mind-boggling’: AFL called out for not providing key medical equipment at grounds
Sports doctor Dr Peter Larkins says the pressure on AFL club medicos has never been higher, saying he’s mystified there isn’t better screening equipment available at grounds.
His comments come on the back of Christian Petracca’s gruesome season-ending spleen and rib injury, which wasn’t diagnosed until hours after the match.
“The lack of diagnostic equivalent available for doctors at AFL stadiums is quite mind-boggling to me,” he told Sam McClure and Leigh Matthews on Wide World of Sports.

“We have such an expensive sport and doctors don’t have access to portable and simple diagnostic equipment.”
