Several protests are set to occur over the Melbourne Cup Carnival to challenge horse racing which has been labelled “fundamentally cruel”.

The protests will begin tomorrow at Derby Day and continue across the remainder of the carnival.

Campaign Director at the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses, Elio Coletto, explained the reasoning behind the protests.

“Horse racing is fundamentally cruel and anyone that cares about horses and animals in general shouldn’t be attending,” Mr Coletto told Dee Dee.
