RUMOUR CONFIRMED: Richmond football players were turned away from a primary school footy clinic yesterday for not having Working With Children Checks.

“TURNED AWAY FOOTY PLAYERS” told the 3AW Breakfast Rumour File that four AFL football players were turned away from a primary school in Melbourne’s south-east because none of them had a Working With Children Check.

Richmond Football Club have confirmed that four of their players were turned away on Tuesday from Syndal South Primary School in Mount Waverley, including Dustin Martin.

“Players were turned away because they didn’t have their Working with Children Check,” Richmond spokeswoman Nicki Malady said.

“It’s up to the school’s discretion, but they don’t actually need to have one until August 1.

“That’s what they decided to do, it’s a bit of a shame for the kids.”

Other players who were turned away from the school were Anthony Miles, Shae Bolton and Jack Graham.
