‘Pretty eye-opening’: Hawthorn coach returns to club following severe pneumonia

Hawthorn midfielder Jai Newcombe has revealed Sam Mitchell addressed the playing group with an eye-opening story when returning to the club this week following a severe bout of pneumonia while on holiday overseas.

The Hawks coach is back at the club, having had his return to Melbourne to delayed following the illness.

“It was pretty eye-opening (when he told us about his experience),” Newcombe told Sam McClure on Wide World of Sports.

“He has a bit of a tough time in the USA, but it’s nice to have him back and he’s on the mend.”
