Premier warned to show consistency in assessing Cesar Melhem’s future
Victoria’s Opposition Leader wants consistency from the Premier when dealing with embattled politician Cesar Melhem.
Matthew Guy agreed that no action should be taken until the royal commission into union corruption releases its findings, but warned Daniel Andrews that he has set the bar high.
‘The standards set for MP character and behaviour by the Labor party were very high,’ Mr Guy said, referring to Labor’s attack on former Liberal government member Geoff Shaw.
‘One has to ask what are the standards that Daniel Andrews is now going to apply to his current members?’
The Opposition Leader said there are ‘questions’ about Mr Melhem’s ability to remain a part of the government should he be found guilty of any wrongdoing.
Mr Guy also said Victoria has lost 8,000 jobs in the last 12 months, whereas states that spend on infrastructure, like NSW, are creating jobs.
