Victoria’s COVID-19 rules will ease today.

From 6pm on Friday, density limits in hospitality and entertainment venues will no longer apply.

Indoor dancefloors may re-open.

QR code requirements will no longer be needed at retail venues, schools and many workplaces.

Mandatory surveillance testing requirements for key industries will no longer be mandatory. Requirements for hospital worker “bubbles” have also been ditched.

International arrivals will no longer need to obtain international arrivals permits through Service Victoria and the 14-day hotel quarantine period for international visitors and aircrew who aren’t fully vaccinated or medically exempt will be cut to seven days.

No changes to mask rules or the work from home advice have been made, but Health Minister Martin Foley said he hopes to announce changes to those restrictions next Friday.

“We just need to see the next few days to see this trend stabilise and continue and then we will be in the position next week, next Friday, to look at the lifting of mast requirements in office and related settings,” he said.
