Premier announces $53m upgrade for Great Ocean Road
The Premier has announced a $53 million boost to protect the Great Ocean Road.
Premier Daniel Andrews made the announcement in Wye River, nearly a year after fire devastated the town.
Since the fire, the Great Ocean Road has been affected by landslides and instability.
Mr Andrews announced $53 million will be spent upgrading the iconic tourist route.
All 240 kilometres will receive repairs, including rock fall netting, retaining walls, and armour stone to prevent erosion.
Mr Andrews says the work will ensure the road and towns along it can stay open for business year round.
Work will start early next year.
