Precious war medals stolen during heartless home invasion

A 96-year-old war widow has been left traumatised after her late husband’s war medals were stolen from her home in regional Victoria.

A small amount of cash and air force log books were also taken after a thief ransacked the Kyabram home.

The victim’s son Peter has told 3AW’s Tom Elliott his mum has been living at the house for 62 years.

“She’s coping, she’s shell-shocked,” he said.

“She’s traumatised a bit, she doesn’t want to stay at her house anymore.”

Peter has told Tom Elliott his mother is “suffering”.

“We can’t believe it happened.”
