Porsche and Mercedes drivers caught drag racing in Melbourne’s south-east
Drivers of two high-end cars have been caught drag racing more at more than 140km/h in Melbourne’s south-east overnight.
Police say they saw a Mercedes C200 station wagon and a Porsche 911 convertible speed off from the lights at the intersection of North Road and the Princes Highway in Clayton, just before midnight.
The pair took off east along Wellington Road, racing side-by-side allegedly reaching speeds of more than 140km/h in an 80 zone.
Both vehicles were shortly intercepted by police and impounded.
A 33-year-old Ferntree Gully man and a 52-year-old Brighton man are expected to be charged with speeding.
