‘Poorly educated’: Legendary horse trainer’s issue with young people’s attitude to racing
Legendary horse trainer Gai Waterhouse says the younger generation are “poorly educated” and often come to major racing meeting for the wrong reasons.
In a wide-ranging chat with Sam McClure on Wide World of Sports, she also called for the gates to be thrown open and fans allowed in for free, bemoaning how expensive a day at the races has become.

“I think (younger people are) poorly educated and they come (to the races) for the wrong thing,” she said on 3AW.
“They come for the party and they’re not really taught about the horses or to have a bet.”
