Police union boss reacts to North Richmond news, issues grave warning about proposed CBD drug room

Police union boss Wayne Gatt has questioned why the state government bothered with a “trial” of the North Richmond supervised drug injecting facility after announcing it will become permanent.

And he’s warned the issues surrounding the controversial North Richmond room will be ten times worse if a similar facility is established in Melbourne’s CBD.

“The whole idea of a trial is to get something right – if you’re not going to get it right, you may have just implemented it in the first instance,” Gatt told 3AW Mornings.
