Police rescue man, 34, who jumped into Yarra river
A police officer has rescued a man who jumped into the Yarra river overnight.
The Preston man, 34, jumped off the Jim Stynes Bridge into the Yarra river about 2am.
A constable from the Public Order Response Team was among the first people at the scene.
With the man appearing to struggle in the water, the police officer jumped in the water and helped the man to safety.
Paramedics then took the man to hospital for assessment.
The temperature in Melbourne was a cool 14.6° at the time.
