Police officer hit by stolen car after Leopold crash on Bellarine Highway
A police officer has been hit by a stolen car while attending the scene of a fatal crash near Geelong.
A 32-year-old Leopold man lost control of his car on the Bellarine Highway and struck a tree around 11.15pm on Tuesday night.
That man died at the scene.
While police were cordoning off the road, a stolen vehicle drove through the crash site and hit an officer.
Luckily, the police officer only suffered minor leg injuries.
The two incidents are not believed to be linked, however the car has since been found dumped in Corio.
The driver remains on the run.
