Police officer charged with rape

A police officer has been charged with rape.

Victoria Police released a statement on Thursday stating one of its members had been investigated by professional standards.

The senior constable, from the eastern region, has since been charged on summons with rape and sexual assault offences.

He is expected to appear at court at a later date.

He’s been stood down indefinitely with pay.
