Police have made a furry discovery after responding to a terrified resident’s concerns in Yarra Junction last night.

Police rushed to the property shortly after 11:30pm, expecting to bust a burglar in the act, but instead found a koala looking up at them from a dog bed beside the back door.

“I think I’d rather have a burglar break into my house!” 3AW Breakfast host Ross Stevenson said.

“That is fantastic,” Stevenson said.

Senior Constable from Mooroolbark Police Brittany Darvell was the officer on the scene, and said it was “definitely a shock” when she found the koala!

“We were definitely ready for something sinister to happen, and then to see the koala was definitely a sigh of relief,” Constable Darvell told Ross and Russel.
