Police hunt for man who smashed through Glen Waverley shopping centre
WATCH the moment a car slams through a Melbourne shopping centre
CCTV has been released of a vehicle smashing through a Glen Waverley shopping centre last week.
The thieves caused over $50,000 in damage to the complex, and got away empty handed.
The incident happened on May 12, an unknown offender drove a white Toyota Land Cruiser through the glass sliding doors of the Springvale Road business.
He continued to drive through the shopping centre before ramming the vehicle into the security shutter of a jewellery store.
He was then confronted by security staff and a number of other people working in the centre at the time.
The offender fled, driving through another set of glass sliding doors.
Police are searching for the car involved, it’s missing its passenger side mirror, has damage to the driver’s side mirror and likely has other front and rear damage. The vehicle has stolen number plates.
The man driving the car is described as being aged in his teens, African appearance, about 165cm tall and with the beginnings of a moustache.
At the time of the incident he was wearing a black hooded jumper and black pants.
