A 53-year-old man has suffered serious injuries during a violent bus assault in Beaconsfield last month.

The victim got off a bus on Old Princes Highway at 1pm on June 4 and was punched in the head several times, resulting in a loss of consciousness. He spent three weeks in hospital and required two surgeries.

Detective Senior Constable from Victoria Police, Megan Fisher, gave an update on how the victim is feeling, stating he is very cautious to use public transport in the future.

The offender is perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance and described as being short, with a stocky build, brown hair and a beard.

Unfortunately there is no CCTV from the bus on the incident.
