Mooving ahead with emission reduction targets

Rural News

Scientists are planning to use biotechnology to help reduce methane emissions from cattle.

The University of Queensland is partnering with the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, as well as Meat and Livestock Australia to develop slow-release technology that contains a gas-reducing bioactive which can be inserted into a cow’s stomach.

Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with lead researcher Professor Mary Fletcher to hear more about the project.
