Futurist Steve Sammartino says NBN a ‘political football’ and not future proof

Futurist Steve Sammartino says one of the biggest mistakes of the NBN infrastructure is the underlying “profit motive”.

Mr Sammartino says the infrastructure is vital, but building the network has become a political football. He said the investment wasn’t there to ensure it was future-proof.

“Everyone will become ensconced in the internet, we are talking about virtual healthcare, robotic surgery, your car will use more data than your home,” he told Tom Elliott during his regular segment.

“We will be using so much data for things we haven’t even imagined yet.”
