Caro explains why Gold Coast thought they could approach Ken Hinkley
Caroline Wilson thinks Gold Coast’s approach to Ken Hinkley might work out better for him.
Port Adelaide reacted angrily on Friday after Suns boss Mark Evans contacted their coach about his future.
But Caro told 3AW the in-demand Hinkley now has a bit of leverage in negotiations with the Power.
“He’ll want more than two years because the Gold Coast would’ve given him five,” she said on Saturday afternoon.

Caro said the Suns thought Hinkley was on the market because he hadn’t had his contract extended yet.
“Gold Coast want an experienced coach,” Caro said.
“They’d rather go for someone like Ken Hinkley or Brad Scott.
“Hinkley’s only got a year left on his contract, Gold Coast wondered why he hadn’t been extended earlier.
“And then the president (David Koch) made comments after the game where he questioned selection, and they thought they were in with a chance.”
