A book celebrating special forces commando Cameron Baird has been released

A book celebrating special forces commando Cameron Baird has been released.

The book, titled The Commando: The life and death of Cameron Baird, VC, MG, gives us an insight into first the experiences of the Australian commando to be awarded a Victoria Cross.

Cameron’s parents, Doug and Kaye, joined Neil Mitchell in the 3AW studio on Monday to talk about the book.

“We would like to give people in civilian life an understanding of what Cameron did during his period in the army,” Doug said.

Kaye said she still thinks of her son every day.

“It’s something we’ll never get over,” she said.

“A big piece of my heart was chopped away that day we learnt about Cameron’s death.”
