Player/coach relationship the key for Botlon
When Brendon Bolton walked into the Carlton Football Club, he didn’t come with the aura of Leigh Matthews.
Clearly though respect was gained quickly and a strong relationship between players and coaches was number one on his agenda.
‘All coach to player relationships are built on trust and investment,’ he said on 3AW’s Sports Today program.
‘Invest in people as a footballer and a person and you see where it takes you.
‘Genuine conversations are the key.’
Bolton will keep ‘an open mind’ about the future of Carlton’s list, however he is fully devoted to the current group of players.
‘For the rest of the year, who is on our list we’ll treat like our sons, (we’ll) coach really hard and their form and our mix will determine that at the end of the year.
‘We’ll be open minded, no doubt.’
