One killed as small plane crashes in suburban street

One person is dead after a small plane crashed near Moorabbin Airport.

The light aircraft came down on Scarlet Street, Mordialloc, just after 5pm on Friday.

It took out power lines, causing the plane to catch fire.

One person was found dead inside the plane.

Nobody else was injured.

The exact cause of the crash will be investigated by Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
