Peter Dutton explains decision to only stand in front of Australian flag if elected Prime Minister
Federal opposition leader Peter Dutton has explained his decision to only stand in front of the Australian flag if he’s elected Prime Minister at the next election.
Dutton stated on 3AW Mornings that Australians should have respect for the Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander flags, but said Australia can’t be a united nation unless we stand behind one flag.
“If we’re split into different groupings or different tribes, we’re not going to be the unified country that I think we need to be,” Dutton told Tom Elliott.

The opposition leader was also questioned on the revelation a Jewish human rights group has issued a travel warning for any Jewish people travelling to Australia.
“There has been an absence in leadership,” Dutton said in the wake of the synagogue attack last Friday.
