Article image for Peter Bol doping investigation takes another twist

Peter Bol’s provisional ban for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs has been lifted after his b-sample did not match his first drug test.

But Sports Integrity Australia says the star runner has not been cleared and their investigation remains ongoing.

Bol released a statement on Tuesday saying he’d been exonerated.

But Sports Integrity Australia has since released a statement of its own.

Associate Professor Rhonda Orr, from the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney, told Tom Elliott the test was not negative.

“It is what they are calling an ‘atypical’ test, so it requires further investigation,” she explained.

“The results are inconclusive.

“They can’t say whether it is definitely positive, or definitely negative.”
