Parking cars to blame for weekend delays, say public transport users
Heavy traffic during weekend peak hour is causing major problems for trams and their passengers.
Reports have trams running up to an hour late in these times.
The Public Transport Users Association says it’s largely down to high turnover of parked cars, with each one manoeuvring into and out of a space.
PTUA President Tony Morton told Ross and John Glenferrie and Sydney roads are among the hardest hit.
‘It may be that we need to look at shifting more of that on-street parking to off-street locations,’ Mr Morton said.
