Ambulance Victoria has since released the following statement:

We understand that any interruption or delay to training is disappointing to our MICA interns, and Ambulance Victoria (AV) is seeking to support MICA paramedic progression where possible.

AV respects our people’s right to take protected industrial action during Enterprise Agreement negotiations, which includes bans on training and reporting.

We continue to negotiate in good faith with employee representatives to deliver a new enterprise agreement that benefits employees and supports AV to continue to provide the best care to the community.

AV has a record number of 129 MICA interns currently in training, including our largest ever bridging program cohort which saw the first 29 of a group of 73 MICA Interns hit the road in March 2024.
