Outgoing ESTA CEO addresses the criticisms facing the service
Outgoing ESTA CEO Stephen Leane has addressed the issues facing the service as he prepares to step down from the role.
Mr Leane has been in charge of ESTA since October 2021 upon a request from the state government to help the service, which struggled during the pandemic.
A damning report into ESTA was handed down last September into the funding problems and significant ambulance delays which contributed to 33 deaths between July 2020 and May 2022.
Despite the criticisms, Mr Leane defended the service, stating he can see “a bright future for the next three years for ESTA” and he doesn’t “personally feel political pressure”.
