A 50-year-old dairy farmer from Mirboo North has died in the storms that savaged parts of Victoria yesterday.

Jacinta Allan has spoken to the media following severe storm damage yesterday which left over 530,000 people without power with reports it could be weeks before parts of the state sees their electricity restored.

Jacinta Allan revealed yesterday was the second day since the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009 which was classified as “catastrophic”.

“The authorities predicted that yesterday would experience catastrophic weather, and that’s exactly what we saw,” she said.

The Premier also revealed the SES has up to 4600 calls for assistance since 9am yesterday.
