Octopus venom could be a gamechanger in battle against serious melanoma
A peptide found in the venom of an Australian octopus could be a gamechanger in the battle against one of the most serious forms of melanoma.
Researchers have found the compound in the octopus kaurna kills BRAF-melanoma mutated cells, but is safe on healthy cells.
“The next step also would be to test it in other types of cancer,” study author from QIMR Berghofer, Dr Maria Ikonomopoulou, told Ross and Russel.
