Nordic neighbour overtakes Norway as happiest nation on earth
Famous for skiing, snowmen, Santa Claus and the Northern Lights, Finland is now home to the happiest people on earth.
The nordic nation has topped this year’s UN World Happiness Report, which ranks 156 countries by happiness levels, based on factors such as life expectancy, social support and corruption.
Finland nudged Norway into second place and Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia round out the top 10.
Jori Tossavainen, president of the Finnish Society of Melbourne, told Ross and John what makes the Finnish such a happy people.
“It’s hard to say but it’s a nice lifestyle,” Jori said.
“We are a happy people.
“We have beautiful lakes and beautiful forest.”
