The Port of Melbourne has been sold to a consortium in a 50-year lease worth $9.7 billion.
The figure is significantly higher than had been expected, and leaves the State government in a good financial position.
This has led Nick McCallum to ask: what should the money be spent on?
Nick believes part should be spent to help put a roof over the head of the 32,000 people on waiting lists for public housing.
