New details come to light after the discovery of a woman’s body in the Maribyrnong River

A 49-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested over the discovery of a woman’s body in the Maribyrnong River.

Police arrested the pair from a property in West Footscray yesterday afternoon.

The woman has now been charged with murder and will face court today, while the teenage boy has been released without being charged.

Police believe all three knew each other.

The charges come after a fisherman found the body of an elderly woman on rocks near Smithfield Road in Flemington on Sunday morning.
