Neil Mitchell’s message for Melbourne
Despite being on holidays, Tony Jones felt it was important 3AW listeners hear from Neil Mitchell in the wake of the Flinders Street incident.
“I’ve been thinking about nothing else since it happened,” Neil told Tony.
“It undermines your very sense of well being.
“What is happening here that is different to the rest of the country?
“I don’t think you can just jeep sticking up bollards, it goes deeper than that.
Neil urged Melburnians to come together and create something special in 2018.
“We are better than this.
“We’ve got to settle this down first and maybe in the new year do something, a march for Melbourne or something.”
How do we reclaim Melbourne for decency? Need a gesture . A march? Anthem? People are edgy . Need reassurance . Ideas?

Neil praised the efforts of our emergency services and the hero off-duty police officer who apprehended the suspect.
“That was superb, but we’re not surprised by this, our police are brilliant,” he said.
