Neil Mitchell says Daniel Andrews is now ‘at war’ with Privacy Commissioner David Watts
Neil Mitchell has expressed concern over the latest twist in Daniel Andrews’ controversial audit of his own cabinet’s mobile phones, which was sparked by a leak to the 3AW Mornings host.
The Andrews Government is reportedly refusing to co-operate with Privacy Commissioner David Watts, who raised concerns about the probe and requested details about how it’d be run.
However, Mr Watts has been told the details he’s chasing can’t be provided due to ‘cabinet confidentiality.’
The Premier was furious after Neil Mitchell revealed details of an increase in police numbers.
Neil Mitchell branded it a ‘massive’ overreaction from the government and another example of Mr Andrews wanting to be in control.
‘It goes to undermine confidence in the Premier’s leadership, both within the public service and in his own cabinet,’ Neil Mitchell explained.
‘It is a wasted energy.
‘It is pointless.
‘He (David Watts) is now directly at war with the premier.
‘So what’s he (Daniel Andrews) going to do? Will he do a CFA job and sack him?’
