Neil Mitchell says “you’ve got to be cynical” about the timing of a Herald Sun interview with a young man who suffered serious injures in a collision with Daniel Andrews’ car in 2013.

Ryan Meuleman, who was cycling in Blairgowrie when he was involved in a crash with a car driven by the Premier’s wife Catherine Andrews, has spoken to the newspaper, revealing he’s engaged lawyers and is disputing the circumstances surrounding the crash.

With the state election only weeks away, Neil Mitchell says the timing of the front-page story is questionable.

“I just don’t know why it has come out now as the election campaign begins,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

Neil Mitchell says he doesn’t think the front page story damages the Premier.

“There’s no smoking gun or suggestion that the Premier or his wife have done anything wrong.”
