Neil Mitchell clashes with Serbian Council over ‘sarcastic’ Djokovic comment

Neil Mitchell has clashed with a spokesperson from the Serbian Council of Australia in a heated interview over comments he made about Novak Djokovic earlier this week.

Speaking on Tuesday, the 3AW Mornings host said he hopes Djokovic doesn’t win because of “extremely ungracious” comments made about Alex de Minaur.

Spokesperson for the Serbian Council of Australia, Dr Nina Markovic Khaze, claims Neil’s comments have caused “a whole lot of post-traumatic stress to a lot of people”.

Dr Markovic Khaze took issue with a sarcastic comment made by the 3AW Mornings presenter, but admitted she’s only read the transcript of his comments, not listened to them herself.

“The written word can be extremely different because the nuances aren’t picked up as they are in the spoken word,” Neil said.

“You really are hanging me out to dry here without even listening to it!”
